What satisfied clients say:
"Athletica Sport and Recreation Design, Inc. offers this letter of reference to any potential client of yours regarding the civil works that JS Ferguson Construction, Inc. completed for the Whitecaps Football Club synthetic turf playing field at Simon Fraser University #1 (Terry Fox Field).
The project worth over 1.7 million plus taxes, involving excavation within an existing running track, concrete curbing work, placement of drainage works and highly specialized granular material to demanding tolerances, and the installation of power and field light was completed ahead of schedule and on budget, with the only change orders being those initiated by the client.
All the work was well executed and all deficiencies were promptly taken care of.
We enjoyed working with your firm on this project and would welcome working with you on any of our future projects."

"It is my pleasure to write this letter as a reference for J. S. Ferguson Construction. I had the pleasure of working with Scott Ferguson and his staff on two separate contract with the Rapid Transit Project (RTP), our mutual client.
Both jobs consisted of site grading and drainage of the area between the new Skytrain Millennium line and the Burlington Northern Santa Fe (BNSF) railway. The scope of work for the first contract (C588-Boundary to Gilmore) involved reinstatement of approximately 150 meters of ditch to demanding BNSF standards, extensive detailed grading of right of way, site preparation and construction of new parking area for adjacent property owner, construction of Allan block wall and fencing. In addition, Mr. Ferguson was extremely helpful cooperating with the property owner and easing the transition of personnel changes within the RTP.
The second contract (C612-Coundary to Renfrew) was similar to the first except that it was more complex and approximately twice as long. The scope of work also included installation of concrete pipe, installation of large (1200mm and 1500mm) manholes over very large diameter (1.9m and 1.6m) live storm sewers and installation of several inlet structures. The site for this contract was situated adjacent to busy Vancouver streets as well as BNSF Railway, Skytrain and numerous active businesses. Mr. Ferguson and his excellent staff handled all elements of the staging and contact with property owners with professionalism and competence.
Both of the above projects required considerable onsite hauling of excess fill material, slope reconstruction and the relocation of fiber optic cable adjacent to the railway. This was made more challenging in light of tight allowances an safety restrictions imposed by BNSF. Mr. Ferguson and his staff worked in a timely fashion and without and safety incidences. Part of what made this work so challenging was the large number of governing authorities and stakeholders involved.
Mr. Ferguson maintained an excellent working relationship with RTP, the City of Vancouver, the City of Burnaby, BNSF and multiple property owners. The firm was cooperative and helpful, often taking steps to keep the client's (RTP's) costs lower through creative solutions to on-site problems.
In my experience, Mr. Ferguson and all his staff are will qualified and skilled at their work. I have no hesitation in recommending them."

"In August 2008, the City of Richmond awarded
the contract for East Richmond Drainage and Irrigation Upgrades to JS Ferguson Construction Inc. The project consisted of a drainage sewer and manhole installation, irrigation flap-gate construction in various locations, and drainage ditch re-profiling in the agricultural areas of East Richmond.
Challenges on this project were as follows:
-
Strict deadline for substantial completion in order to receive available grant funding.
-
Environmental management was required during construction.
-
Skilled crew needed to ensure the project was completed in accordance with all contract and design specifications.
-
Construction was done during unfavorable weather conditions.
JS Ferguson provided quality construction service, and showed good communication through regular updates and proactively advising the Contractor Administrator of any foreseeable issues.
Work was completed to the satisfaction of the City of Richmond Engineering staff, on budget and achieved substantial completion ahead of schedule."

"Campus Planning and Development at Simon Fraser University is pleased to recognize the exceptional effort and contribution of the entire team at JS Ferguson Construction Inc. On behalf of the Whitecaps Football Club, JS Ferguson has made a significant contribution to the athletic and recreation program at SFU with the redevelopment of Terry Fox Field. The work carried out by JS Ferguson included the removal and excavation of a grass field and sub-base from inside of the existing running track, the installation of new drainage works, new sub base material and field lighting for an artificial turf playing field.
During construction, the contractor met the need of the university in a professional and safe manner keeping the track opened for use by the general public and university athletes. They assisted with the relocation and construction of track and field events including shot put, javelin, pole vault and hammer throw areas allowing us the hold the Canadian Legion Games Nation Track and Field Championships between August 10 and 17, 2006.
The entire J. S. Ferguson team has met the unique challenges of this project satisfying the diverse user client groups. Of particular significance was the ability to investigate existing site conditions and provide assistance in determining the scope of civil construction works within the tight allowance of university infrastructure and the Whitecaps budget."

"Civil work on and around the
fields started in June and was completed quickly. J.
S. Ferguson Construction, under the direction of Scott
Ferguson, built a lot of what you don't see under the turf
itself... The surface is particularly good when it is wet...
We played a cup game on it two weeks ago in a driving
rainstorm and the drainage was remarkable - not a drop of
standing water anywhere."

"J. S. Ferguson
Construction Inc was the successful bidder in a public
tender process to provide civil construction services for
the District of West Vancouver to construct a lighted, two
field, artificial turf complex in Ambleside Park.
Total value of the project was $2,600,000... Meeting the
specifications for the sub base was critical to the
performance of these fields, and J. S. Ferguson worked
diligently to ensure we achieved the specifications.
During the civil construction phase we encountered numerous
situations where changes in materials, scheduling and
construction methodology were required. In all cases
we were able to resolve the issues that confronted us with
the result that we have, what we consider to be the highest
quality possible in our finished project. It was
during the process of managing the changes that I found J.
S. Ferguson to be of particular value to the District.
I would not hesitate to recommend J. S. Ferguson
Construction Inc to provide civil construction services for
any project."

being well organized and adhering to schedules.
Dealing with our school personnel and functioning around
young children in a confined area was handled in a
professional and safe manner. The professionalism in
their relationship with our engineers was a great benefit to
the project and us. The supply of highly skilled
labour force and the manner in which direction was accepted
and the work carried out was an asset to their
professionalism as a company. If we requires similar
services in the future, they would be number one on the
contact list."
